A day after being honoured with the best “Best Constable” award in his district. Barely a day of honour was passed until when the Telangana state cop was caught red-handed.
Telangana Cop Took Bribe:-
Telangana state cop, P. Thirupathi Reddy was posted in the I-Town police station in Mahabubnagar. He was awarded ‘Best Constable’ on Independence Day, this year. The policeman took bribe from a sand dealer. However, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACR) arrested him on 16th August for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.17,000.
Reports do confirm, Reddy was trying to misuse his power by harassing sand dealer, Mudavath Ramesh. Similar to any other man in power, Reddy harassed the sand dealer and was threatening to confiscate his tractor. If the dealer didn’t give him the money he’ll have to bear the consequences. Eventually, the cop also threatened the dealer to implicate him in a false case. The complainant, Ramesh, had claimed that he was constantly being harassed so that he must pay money for transporting sand. Even after having all the verified documents Ramesh had to face humiliation. After the arrest, Reddy was presented before the Bureau for further questioning. Later he was sent to Judicial custody.
The Misuse of Power:-
As Reddy was awarded for his hard work and honesty towards his work. However, now his respect has been dissolved in the soil. In addition, he had received the award from State Excise Minister V. Srinivas Goud during the Independence Day Celebrations.
There have been events where a man misuses his power and position to control things. While men should understand that with power comes an unseen limit. Once, you cross the line and get caught, the powerful soon turns to powerless. Apart from this, anti-corruption officials found Rs. 75 Lakh cash and 400 hundred grams Gold from the house of a revenue officer.
