Bandipora Rape: Protests and anger erupts in J&K valley against the rape of a 3 year old , forcing the government to shut down all the schools and offices.

Narrating the incident, the child’s father said that “At the time of Iftar, we looked for our daughter to break our fast. We searched the entire village and one of the local said that he had heard cries coming from a nearby school. Me and my wife started following the direction of the cries and reached the toilet of the school. There we found our daughter lying on the floor, shivering with pain and her trousers pulled down. She has become the victim of rape.

Seeing us, the rapist tried to run away and i ran after him and asked my wife to be with our child. Our child has went through an unimaginable condition a three year old can ever bear. Beside her we found packet of shampoo and some chewing gums.

Believed that the rapist allured the victim using chewing gums and later abducted her and raped her in Sumbal area’s Trehgam locality.

Protests and shutdown in valley due to minor’s rape:

The brutal crime had led unrest and protest in J&K valley. A impromptu shutdown was observed throughout the valley. The protesters demand capital punishment for such heinous crime.

The police said that the suspected youth behind this crime arrested and now behind the bars. A special investigation team constituted to investigate into the crime. The accused helped by the principal of a school through lending him a fake birth certificate. Which declares his as a minor. However preliminary examination of the suspect has shown that he is not a minor.

“The doctors gave an opinion that he around 20-years-old,” the official said.

In addition, police has also detained the principal of the school who had issued the fake birth certificate to the accused. “The principal is under the custody and is being questioned,” the official said.

Mehbooba Mufti, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir said in a tweet, “Mortified to hear about the rape of a 3 yr old girl in Sumbal. What kind of a sick pervert would do this?Society often blames women for inviting unwanted attention but what was this child’s fault? Times like these, Shariah law seems apt so that such pedophiles are stoned to death.
