Dutee Chand win historic 100-metres gold at the World University Games.
Dutee Chand won the historic 100 metre gold at the world University Games in Naples, Italy. She is the first Indian to bag a gold this global event.
Dutee is only the second Indian to have won a gold at a global event. Last year, Hima Das won a gold at the world junior Championship.
Indian history in global game events hasn’t been very impressive. In recent years, only Inderjeet Singh won a gold in 2015 in shot put. In 2013 and 2017 India won one silver medal each. This year traditionally returned with a modest medal haul from the biennial World University Games.
