Actor, producer and Narrator – Morgan Freeman, renowned for playing ‘GOD’ in Bruce Almighty and Unforgiven, has been accused of sexually inappropriateness by a group of women, as per CNN reports.
CNN revealed that they questioned 16 people about accusations against Freeman. Eight of them claimed the actor harassed, and others said they observed inappropriate behavior from the actor.
An assistant who earlier worked on ‘Going In Style’ revealed Morgan “Kept trying to lift up my skirt and asking if I was wearing underwear”. According to her, Mr. Freeman did this repeatedly until another co-star Alan Arkin intervened and Morgan freaked out and didn’t know what to say.
Another assistant alleged Morgan commented on bodies of women on set which led the women to be careful and not to wear tightly fitted clothing around him. They feared he might say something unfitting. It seems like few reporters who interviewed him at press events too experienced similar conduct.
Many women claimed they did not speak out in the open fearing they would lose their jobs. In the interview with CNN, they learnt that Freeman’s alleged demeanor was an open secret
Freeman is the latest and most high-profile person in Hollywood accused of sexual misconduct after Bill Cosby. It will be interesting to see Freeman’s response, which now that the story has published will likely be forthcoming.
Morgan apologized with a short statement quoting “Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy. I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected. That was never my intent”
