Religion; To be respected not forced
Beaten and forced to chant the Hindu Phrase ‘ Jai Sri Ram’.
Religion comes on a front foot. Especially in our country. But does this mean we all have the right to force people follow our religion ? Who gives us the right to impose our religion on others or disrespecting any religion.
Above all in a diverse country like India where more than nine types or popularly recognized religions are followed. We all worship the God we believe and having a majority of any religion in a country doesn’t give us any right to degrade others.
Jharkhand Man Beaten By Mob For Hours, Made To Chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’, Dies.
A man accused of stealing a motorbike died on Saturday in Jamshedpur,Jharkhand. After being beaten up for days by a mob. Shams Tabrez, a 24 year old man was caught by a mob on Tuesday evening. While trying to steal a motorbike.
Tabrez was tied to a pole and brutally beaten for more than seven hours. And then handed over to the police on Wednesday morning. He was also forced to chant ‘Jai Sri Ram’ and ‘Jai Hanuman’. After getting badly drilled by the mob Shams fell unconscious.
The videos of the beating are widely circulated in the area.
The relatives of Shams Tabrez requested for his proper treatment but was ignored by the police. They have demanded that action to be taken against the police and mob which brutally mauled him near Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharsawan border. East Singhbhum district.
After the initial checkup at a local hospital. Tabrez was sent to the district’s jail. When his condition worsen. He was taken to district’s Sadar hospital. Where he was declared dead.
Refusing to believe he died, His family members transferred him to Tata Main Private Hospital. Where he was officially declared dead.
According to the police, Shams Tabrez had “fallen ill” and had died in Tata Main Hospital. An FIR has been filed following a complaint from his relatives. Further investigation will take place at the earliest.

“There, a motorcycle theft took place and these people were passing by… so the villagers caught them and then beat him up very badly. There were two friends with him who ran away,” a relative said.
Shams was “beaten up the whole night”. “My elder brother went to see him at the Saraikela police station. But the officers threatened and shooed them away with lathis, saying ‘You have come to talk for the thief’. They threatened to put him in jail as well. We were not allowed to meet him,” He further added.
Shams family was not informed when he was moved to the district hospital. Which somewhere indicates a huge loophole in between.
“We think, he died last night,” the relative said, adding, “We want all the officials at the police station, the jail and all the villagers who beat him up to be charged”.
The doctors of Sadar hospital told, “According to us, he was deeply comatose. We wanted to take an ECG to be sure, But the family wasn’t ready to face reality.”
