The results of 2014 elections were considered really humiliating for Indian National Congress. However, Thursday’s poll of 2019 elections prove out to be the worst. Congress won just 50 seats against the 303 seats that Mr. Narendra Modi’s BJP won. Furthermore , he lost in his own mainstay Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
Most noteworthy , he will still sit in parliament because he contested from a second seat in Wayanad in Kerala where he won.
2019 Elections : Amethi
The battle of power in Amethi was very prominent. It was a place where once both of his parents had contested and even won. Rahul Gandhi himself had held this place for the past 15 years. He wrote letter addressed to every household in Amethi as ‘Mera Amethi Parivar’ which was not beneficial enough to cast him enough votes. Rahul Gandhi lost to BJP’s Smriti Irani , an eminent personality actor turned into a politician. But, BJP leader Smriti Irani emerged as a prominent and giant killer in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
After successfully winning the 2019 Indian elections, she tweeted :
एक नयी सुबह अमेठी के लिए , एक नया संकल्प। धन्यवाद अमेठी 🙏शत शत नमन । आपने विकास पर विश्वास जताया, कमल का फूल खिलाया। अमेठी का आभार #PhirEkBaarModiSarkaar #VijayiBharat

2019 Election’s result :
Above all , not many were expecting an absolute win for Rahul Gandhi led Congress but they were also not aware of how badly will it fail. In 2019 Indian Elections, BJP won a total of 303 seats whereas Congress secured merely 52. In addition to this, National Democratic Alliance secured a total of 47 seats.
Consequently , when the verdict of 2019 elections was out, Rahul Gandhi congratulated Prime minister Narendra Modi on twitter :
I accept the verdict of the people of India 🇮🇳
Congratulations to the winners, Mr Modi & the NDA.
Thank you to the people of Wayanad for electing me as your MP.
Thank you also to the people of Amethi.
Thank you Congress workers & leaders for your hard work in this campaign.
